Role Models Review

role_modelsIf it’s low brow, juvenile comedy you’re looking for, you’ll find it here.  If you like the newer, funny films (Old School, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, etc) , you’ll like this too.  Quite a bit milder then Forgetting Sarah Marshall, it’s got the Judd Apatow feel to it, but still mild enough for a younger audience to watch.  I mean there’s not too much you can’t figure out from the preveiws, couple guys have to do community service, get assigned to a couple of kids, like big brother, and the comedy ensues.  I laughed out loud quite a bit in this one.  Would recommend to anyone.

Marley & Me Review

marley-and-me-posterI have a wife and two kids, ages 11 and 17, and everyone of us enjoyed this movie as much as the other.  One of the best FAMILY movies I’ve EVER scene.  Man we laughed, we cried, we laughed some more, and we cried some more.  Such a good story, and surprisingly well acted by Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston.  This movie is wonderful and great for all ages.  Just remember to have a box of tissues close by….You’ll need em.

The Spirit Review

thespiritMan, another dissapointment.  I was a huge Sin City fan, and LOVED 300, so I figured another Frank Miller project would be worth my while… “BUZZER SOUND”..  Still has that cool Sin City look and feel, without the good story or actors.  Samuel Jackson is his usual SCREAMING self, and when Eva Mendez is the best actor in the movie you know you’ve got an issue.  And the movie was just plain weird.  I mean Sin City had that cool vibe going for it this movie kind of spins in circles for the first 3/4 and then tries to play catch up by explaining the origin of The Spirit, and it was just strange. If you’re bored some evening and have a couple hours to kill check it out, other wise there are much better flicks to see.

Seven Pounds Review

sevenpoundsOh boy.. as much as I like Will Smith movies, this movie was horrible.  I’m actually surprised that I made it through the whole thing, It kind of keeps you interested just to actually see what happens at the end, and the ending was SOOOO dissapointing. Even more dissapointing was the journey to get to the end.  One of the slowest movies I’ve ever scene.  And given the cast, possibly one of the biggest dissapointments I’ve ever scene, for sure the most dissapointing movie I’ve scene in the last 5 years. AVIOD AT ALL COSTS

Taken Review

taken_ver5All I can say is WOW, this movie shocked the crap out of me.  I had absolutely no hopes or doubts going into it… kind of a time killer to go watch it and what a time killer it was.  Man was this movie good.  And I was pretty nervous to see Liam Neeson in a tough guy/military man roll but he was great.  Was the perfect plot of what a parent would do to find his child and rescue her.  Lots of good action and suspense.  This movie has gotten absolutely no hype or press and was probably better than most of the movies I’ve seen this year.  With-out-a-doubt worth checking out!

The Wrestler Review

the_wrestler_movie_poster_1I used to be a huge wrestling fan so I was pretty excited to see this.  Hmm… well I was a little dissapointed.  The movie was good overall, but with all the oscar hype I expected quite a bit more.  Mickey Rourke was awsome.  He deserved every award he won, and the story was good, just not great.  The realism was outstanding, you kind of felt like you were watching a documentary from time to time.  Living the life of a Pro Wrestler is got to be difficult, especially the life of a washed up one.  Mickey did a wonderful job of portraying this.  The movie dragged a little, but well worth watching.  The artsy movie critics are in love with this film.  The people’s movie critic enjoyed it, but it didn’t blow me away like I thought it would

Rock-N-Rolla Review

rock-n-rolla-wallpaperMan I loved this movie,  I love Guy Ritchie Films as well.  I know a couple of friends that don’t like his movies and still liked this one.  If you liked SNATCH, you’ll love this.  I actually liked it better than SNATCH.  As can be expected, very fast paced, with the usual british quips and humor.  Gerard Butler is hilarious.  As will all Guy Ritchie films you kind of have to pay attention or you might get a little lost, but unlike SNATCH, you could take a restroom break with this on and still be o.k.  Huge cast as well, Gerard Butler, Tom Wilkinson, Thandie Newton, and Jeremy Piven just to name a few.  I recommend this film to all, and HIGHLY recommend it to Guy Ritchie fans
